Job Description of EHS Director
An immediate need for an experienced Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Director specializing in construction in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The candidate will be credentialed (e.g. – BS, MS, OSHA 30, OSHA 510, OSHA 500, ASP, GSP, CSP, CHST, STSC, etc.).
The EHS Director will work directly for the concrete/shell contractor overseeing multiple projects in the region. Travel up to 25% of the time outside of FL. Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Oversee the Environmental, Health and Safety compliance for the organization
- Conduct documented EHS inspections
- Investigate incidents to determine root cause and develop corrective and preventative actions
- Work closely with the project leadership teams to assist with facilitating and injury free workplace
- Collect and analyze leading and lagging indicators to determine trends and put actions into place to address concerns
- Review EHS plans and assist with plan development when needed
- Manage and mentor 20+ direct reports
- Ensure contractors are adhering to their EHS plans
- Make certain craft workers are appropriately trained for their required tasks
- Partner with trade contractor EHS professionals and manage the project safety leadership team
- Act as liaison with the client’s risk management team
- Deliver various EHS training modules
Minimum Requirements
- Ten years of experience in EHS
- Computer knowledge and efficiency, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office products
- Experience managing direct reports
- Excellent organizational skills
- Outstanding communication and written skills
- Familiarization with various EHS management web/app-based platforms
Required Education/Certification
- BS/MS degree in a related field
- CHST
Preferred Education/Certification
- ASP/GSP/CSP/STSC
- OSHA 500/510
